ICHK Hong Lok Yuen has been providing high quality kindergarten and primary education for 40 years. A fully authorised IB Primary Years school, we place great emphasis on inquiry skills, and children are given a solid foundation in Maths and English. All our teachers are trained to support the needs of Bilingual and Multilingual learners (BML’s) and we are an Accredited BML Smart School. We offer a strong Chinese programme, and all students learn Mandarin as a language using traditional characters. Our dynamic school is a world away from the bustle and crowds of the city. Our beautiful campus is located in green and spacious surroundings, encircled by mountains. In our school garden, children grow their own herbs, vegetables and flowers. Our playing field allows them the opportunity to play in the fresh air, and our spacious campus offers unrivalled opportunities for outdoor learning. Our school caters for both expatriates from all over the world and English speaking local Chinese students from ages 2.8-11. The school has its own Kindergarten [International College Hong Kong Hong Lok Yuen (Kindergarten Section)] on the same campus, and is a partner school of [ International College Hong Kong (New Territories)] Secondary in Sha Tau Kok. Our inspirational teachers aim to develop enthusiastic, open minded and confident learners. We are proud of our Outdoor Learning programme and were the first accredited Forest School Development Centre in Hong Kong. In addition to Outdoor Learning, specialist learning also includes PE, Music and Art. There is a strong focus on pastoral care and a wide range of extra-curricular activities enriches the education programme. A large playing field, playground, basketball court, school garden, mini forest and extensive open space allows students to both play and engage with nature. We offer strong Learning Support and English as an Additional Language programmes. A key aim is to provide a secure, caring environment for students, where they can flourish as learners and happy individuals. Our experienced staff ensure that students are supported and nurtured in a responsive environment, so that they receive the best possible school experience. At the heart of our school is our commitment to ensuring that every child flourishes. We know that happy children make good learners and our dedicated teachers strive to develop confident young people with creative and inquiring minds. ICHK Hong Lok Yuen has a very strong community ethos, extensive facilities and provides a supportive environment where children of all cultures and abilities can flourish. Our school recently won the Sustainability Award at the 2023 International School Awards hosted by ISC Research for our Miyawaki tree planting scheme.
